چکیده
Abstract Introduction Peyronie’s Disease (PD) is a debilitating condition characterized by progressive scarring of the tunica albuginea. The resulting deformities are often emotionally devastating to patients, and include erectile dysfunction, painful erections, penile curvature, indentation, hourglass, hinge deformities. According previously published surgical algorithm for PD in 1997, partial plaque excision grafting (PEG) recommended patients with >60 degree curvature +/− strong pre-operative erections while placement an inflatable prosthesis (IPP) when rigidity sub-optimal.* Nevertheless, many counseled undergo IPP refuse insist on proceeding PEG due personal preference. We hypothesize that men but choose will report lower satisfaction rates reduced ability engage sexual intercourse post-operatively. Objective Our objective was evaluate compare long-term patient-reported outcomes who underwent at single institution between 2007 2021. Methods A retrospective chart review conducted from 2021 surgeries performed single, tertiary-care ≥18 years old had >3 months follow up. Results 251 mean up 35.5 months. 54 (22%) were initially advised elected PEG. Of these 17 (32%) 9-10 subjective rigidity, relative 110 197 (56%) (p=0.002). On duplex ultrasound, 7.8, compared 8.6 (p 15 units ultrasound evaluation less likely be able post-operative following surgery (48.6%) those needed <15 (71.1%) (p=0.02). Conclusions Patients sub-optimal procedure worse penetrative intercourse. Significantly more also eventually IPP. Pre-operative trimix dosing <15U predictor function as it may reflective better quality. Subjective measures appear critical predictors PEG, confirming 1997 management PD.* *J Urol 1997; 158: 2149-52. To PEG or not to PEG.
Patients with adequate intestinal function who are unable to eat may benefit from enteral tube feeding. Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is preferred when prolonged treatment is envisaged. PEG feeding will reduce morbidity and mortality in many such patients by reversing malnutrition. The increasing numbers of elderly patients with chronic diseases have resulted in an increased demand ...
متن کاملPreparation and Characterization of CA−PEG−TiO2 Membranes: Effect of PEG and TiO2 on Morphology, Flux and Fouling Performance
Modified cellulose acetate (CA) membranes were prepared by dissolving the polymers in a mixture of acetone (AC) and N, N dimethylacetamide (DMAc) (70:30) solvent and deionized (DI) water was used in the coagulation bath. The introduction of polyethylene glycol (PEG) additive and TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) into the casting solution has changed the structures of the resulting membranes during the p...

PURPOSE To review the outcome of bone-peg grafting for osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) grade II lesions of the humeral capitellum. METHODS Records of 10 male adolescent baseball players aged 10 to 15 (mean, 12.3) years who underwent bone-peg grafting for OCD grade II lesions of the humeral capitellum of the dominant arm were reviewed. The mean time from symptom onset to presentation was 11 (r...
متن کاملWho follows up patients after PEG tube insertion?
BACKGROUND Community follow-up is often inadequate for patients discharged from hospital following commencement of PEG tube feeding. OBJECTIVE AND METHODS We performed a postal questionnaire to assess if patients/carers were trained in the care of the PEG tube pre-discharge and whether appropriate community follow-up was in place. RESULTS Of 166 PEG tubes inserted during the study period, 6...
